Dexter : The moment when your favorite TV show ends with a really lousy ending

I'm not going to even talk about it much, but i am really, really disappointed and sad.
It was by far my favorite show and it ends just like that.
I don't even feel like talking about it so ...
I bid my farewell with this beautiful soundtrack :

The Dark Knight trilogy (My Pickups #3)

I was lucky enough to have this 6-disc limited edition like 7 months after it's release on the home entertainment media.
As you can see the box is really neat, and the box image changes depending on your view perspective.
I am really looking forward to watch again (even though it's only the second time i watch the dark knight rises, and i watched Batman Begins and The dark knight 10 times each ).
When i finish watching them again i will do a retrospective on the Christopher Nolan trilogy.

Deadly Premonition : The director's cut Review

As to be expected, i have mixed feelings about this game, but overall i enjoyed it quite a lot.
In technical aspects the game is really weak, the frame-rate, graphics, mouth movement, among other things. You can really see that this game was made with low budget. But if you learn to love all that, you will really enjoy this game.
Characters are quite interesting, specially our protagonist Francis York Morgan. Since the plot is murder/crime themed  i can't really give it away or i will spoil it. The routine of this game is really interesting, and the dialogues between our main character and his imaginary friend Zach are the best (For example, there is one time that they are talking about 80s b-horror movies; and in another occasion they are talking about John Williams work and Richard Donner's films.).
The atmosphere of this game is really dark and bizarre (like most moments of the game), and sometimes it's reminiscing of both Silent hill  and Twin Peaks, it's a strange mixture but it oddly works in this game.
This game is a cult classic, it may not reach Silent hill's terrifying psychological horror nor Twin Peaks bizarre brilliance, it's most definitely worth checking out. It's certainly better and more atmospheric than the latest survival horror games.

My pickups #2

Deadly Premonition - The director's cut

In the mysterious town of Greenvale, bizarre happenings like the reed seeds murderers are taking place, you play the role of Francis York Morgan that is trying to make sense out of it.
Technically speaking this game is dated, the graphics gameplay are clunky (like old fashion survival horror) but the story seems really great, there is without a doubt an unique atmosphere to it.
This game influences are mostly 80s B-Horror movie and the David Lynch Twin Peaks series ... How can it go wrong ?

Battle Royale review

At the rise of a New Millennium in an alternative japan, the whole country is in crisis, the economy is weak, delinquency among young people has greatly increased and the school system is boycotted by students.
All of this forces the government to approve the battle royale program.
The concept of the BR program is putting junior high-schools to fight each other to the death till only one left.
Now this movie has really violent content, and disturbing imagery , but honestly that's essential to the shock value, i probably wouldn't like this movie as much if it was pg-13.
Sometimes during the movie there are going to be some scenes with a "campy charm", some scenes are so insane that i found myself laughing. (I think i like twisted stuff a little to much).
Never the less, it's a really great movie, and even though the acting it's not the best part of the movie, it has character development and good characters (specially Kiriyama and Mitsuko).
If you can handle strong violence, you should watch it, it's even Quentin Tarantino's favorite movie.
A solid 8/10

New Batman and Boredom (Little DW note at the end)

Yeah Ben Aflleck is batman, and he's a bad actor, we have got to deal with it,  i already had my reaction. But i can't  judge a movie i haven't seen yet, can i ?!

Anyhow, i am really bored, i still have series to watch and i haven't seen the latest episode of Dexter.
I haven't done pickups in a while, and i won't be doing it till the end of the month (budget issues).
On the upside Sherlock is on and it's the 3rd time i watch the second season, but to be honest... i kinda missed it already.
So in order to commemorate my boredom here is a Sherlock and Doctor who crossover picture :

PS : I'm really Anxious for the 50th anniversary Doctor who special, to bad the other doctors (like Peter Davison and Tom Baker and even Silverster McCoy) couldn't made their way into it, they are really old though (specially Tom Baker). But i have big hopes for it.

Persona 4 ARENA review

This is going to be a really short review because to be really honest, i didn't really enjoy this game. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad game at all, it's fun at least, but the story mode didn't really grab me.
The thing is, even though the story wasn't left out, the character development was. Even though the story mode sometimes has some really good moments (Labrys and Elizabeth are good examples) but other than that i felt pretty indifferent for the other characters story mode, it's like they didn't really get more close after persona's 4 story, and a few times the story mode is just an excuse for the fighting between characters.
Long story short :

It's lacking the character development, sometimes the story mode feels as an excuse for the characters being fighting each other, doesn't have the proper interaction between characters nor the epic scale of the both story mode and the amazing boss battles that it had in both persona 3 and 4.
This is just my opinion though, but i am really disappointed because i truly love persona 4 (both the game and the anime, they are both amazing) but this game doesn't has what makes persona great.

My pickups #1

So in this entry i am going to post about things i buy and describing them briefly.
Pick up #1 : The sandman : The dream Huners - So basicaly this is a Neil Gaiman and Yoshitaka Amano colaboration. It has Neil imagination and the mindblowing art of Amano.
For those of you that don't Gaiman's work, he is a famous book writter, that also writtes for comics (like The sandman and The eternals), he even wrote a few scripts for some episodes of BBCs "Doctor Who".As for Amano he is mostly famous by his amazing job on the cover arts of the video game franchise "Final Fantasy"

Pick up #2 Persona 4 Arena - This game serves as a sequel to both persona 3 and persona 4, so expect plenty crossovers. I only bought this game because it has the characters i know and love and a good story mode, because to be honest i'm not really into fighters. But i'm into persona so i will gladly pass every single character story mode.

Persona 4 Review

Persona 4 Review :
There is something about this game that makes it amazing, there is a unique vibe to it, the characters even though they act like anime characters, they feel real (which sometimes might be weird). They start out as simple and plain and a bit typical , but as you progress in the game and complete their Social Links you start to see that they are more complex and interesting that they let on at the begging, and so you grow attached to the characters. This is the non supernatural aspect of the game. The supernatural aspect of this game is mostly based on the characters persona's, those persona's are part of the characters souls, they summon the personas to defeat shadows. Sounds simple and anime-like right ?
The psychological aspect of persona 4 is rather interesting, once you enter the TV world (The midnight channel), you face a secret part of your inner self, the part you don't want to anyone to know about, your insecure part, and that part is your shadow self. And once the character defeats the shadow self, a persona is born.
The gameplay is turned based, and sometimes it revolves around strategy, you summon your personas in battle and that's pretty much it. You also can also fuse your persona's to create new one's.
The story revolves around a murderer that you and your group are trying to solve, a really complex murder that if you fail to resolve you might get a different ending. But that is only part of the plot, it's too complex for me too explain, but the premise is simple, by morning you attend to school and lead a social life and create bonds with your mates and after school you go fight shadows and save people that are pushed in the midnight channel to be killed by their own shadow.
But all and all what makes this game great it's the characters and the interactions you make with them, the surreal colorful yet dark worlds of the midnight channel, and the simple yet touching situations you find yourself in. Every single thing in this game though might be simple (yet original) grows on you and make you feel what he characters are feeling. This is basically a "best friends forever"  themed story, so expect some lines like "you are not alone" , "i'm here for you" , "You can do it" , but it works here perfectly and it's so well executed that makes the those scenes touching and epic.
And to finalize, i shall talk about the soundtrack:  it's a mix of jazz, pop, rock and opera, and weirdly ... it works so well.
This is the best that the genera has to offer so be sure to not miss it specially if you have your old ps2 or a psvita )

In case that you are not a gamer, watch the anime, it has some silly moments but the ending is beyond epic.
I bid you farewell
(BTW here's persona 4 opening : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDrlqEbEEnA Great song )
